AOD-9604

A peptide fragment of human growth hormone (amino acids 177-191) studied for a fat-reducing effect without the growth-promoting effects of the full hormone.

AOD-9604 is a synthetic 16-amino-acid fragment of human growth hormone (sequence Tyr-hGH177-191), originally developed by Metabolic Pharmaceuticals in collaboration with Monash University for weight regulation. It was studied in six randomized, placebo-controlled human trials with more than 900 participants for its metabolic effects and safety. Clinical development as an obesity compound was discontinued in 2007 after the largest trial did not meet its primary efficacy endpoint.
