A stabilized GHRH analog, approved in the US as the medication Egrifta for reducing visceral abdominal fat in HIV-associated lipodystrophy.

Tesamorelin is a stabilized analog of the full 44-amino-acid GHRH. Under the brand name Egrifta, it has been approved by the US FDA since 2010 for reducing visceral abdominal fat in HIV-associated lipodystrophy. This makes it the only peptide in its class with a completed phase 3 approval study in more than 800 participants.

• In a randomized, placebo-controlled phase 3 trial in people with HIV-associated fat redistribution, tesamorelin reduced visceral fat tissue significantly more than placebo over 26 weeks and raised IGF-1 levels. Falutz et al. 2007, New England Journal of Medicine, PMID 18057338

Is tesamorelin an approved medication

Does tesamorelin build muscle
