Hexarelin is a synthetic hexapeptide from the GHRP (growth hormone releasing peptide) class, first pharmacologically described in 1994. It has been studied in clinical trials on growth hormone secretion in children, adults, and older adults, and separately in preclinical research on cardiac effects.

• In a study of 60 people aged 5 to 81, the growth hormone response to hexarelin was compared across prepubertal and pubertal children, young adults, and older adults, with a markedly weaker response in prepubertal children and older participants.
