Sermorelin is the biologically active fragment GHRH(1-29) of the body's own growth hormone-releasing hormone. In the US it was approved in 1990 as a diagnostic agent and in 1997 for growth hormone deficiency-related short stature in children; the approval was withdrawn in 2008 for manufacturing reasons. Today it is studied outside that historical approval as a research substance.
